Every day a new chess podcast is launched. Some are good, some are bad but they all have one thing in common - they’re all making huge money and they’re here to stay. Even the World Champion of Chess, Magnus Carlsen himself, is podcasting his ass off.
Today we’ll be looking at the 5 best ever chess podcast episodes in a definitely-not-sponsored post that I did not receive any payment for whatsoever, muffins or otherwise. There is no evidence (remaining).
#5 - The Chicken Chess Club #1
An instant classic. Jan, Peter & Laurent hit the ground running with the greatest opening episode of all time. A beautiful beginning.
#4 - The Chicken Chess Club #4
Not just chosen because #4 should be #4, let me assure you. This episode included a prank on Hammer - what more could you ask for?
#3 - The Chicken Chess Club Candidates Predictions
All predictions were 100% accurate, no notes.
#2 - The Chicken Chess Club Magnus Carlsen Quits
Who could forget this emotional episode? Still the only video episode to date and not just because Laurent often refuses to wear a shirt. When will we see them again?
#1 - The Chicken Chess Club #19
Is Episode 19 truly the greatest episode of all time or is it recency bias playing a trick on us? It’s both. No doubt one day in the distant future, episode #20 will eclipse this masterpiece of podcasting skill but until that day comes, this is where chess podcasting peaked. Enjoy it.
I also think chessfeels and the 64: A Chess Podcast are often tolerable.
