2022 was a huge year for chess fashion. People were allowed out of their homes again so they had to (more or less) dress appropriately. Some players took this to exciting & creative new levels.
Runners up:
Magnus Carlsen
The World Champion of Chess didn’t always manage to wear pants but he always looked sharp.
He bravely challenged FIDE’s dress code, though was ultimately defeated and forced to wear a suit.
Sometimes his hair stole the show.
Levon Aronian
I mean c’mon, just google him any year. He’s the king.
Peter Svidler
Adding to his famous earring, Peter Svidler played a (real) chess tournament dressed as a meerkat.
And then attempted to commentate on another one.
A true contender for Best Dressed of the Year. However, we can only have one winner:
MrDodgy
I mean, come on. Look at this.
AND SHOES.
Clearly, I have raised the bar and it’s up to You People to do better in 2023.
